imageMapEdit

hi.

so i'm writing here, b/c you seems to be one of the maintainers of MediaWiki:Gadgets-definition.

(background - skip if you are familiar with imageMapEdit): so, User:Dapete created some years ago a tool called "Imagemap Editor". this is a cute little tool, that helps in creation of Imagemaps. this tool used to sit on "toolsever", which was maintained by dewiki community, and when toolsever kicked the bucket, it was migrated to wmflabs, with source here: [1]. we (hewiki) used to load ImageMapEdit whenever someone opened a page in File: namespace. recently, it was decided by the powers-that-be, that it's not kosher to load a script from "external" source (apparently, wmflabs, though it's operated by wikimedia, is still "external"), and the global activation of this script was removed: see he:Special:Diff/26721754.

so i took Dapete's editor, and bent in in such a way that it does not need external resources anymore, and can run locally, as a user script or gadget. you can try it by loading it (f12) (only does something in namespace 6, files)

i'd like to suggest adding this tool as one of the available gadgets on commons.

Can you provide me the gadget description for use in MediaWiki:Gadget-ImageMapEdit? sure. for description, maybe something like imageMapEdit: Tool for creating image-maps, generating "imagemap" tag. feel free to rephrase.

it can be loaded from hewiki with title=mediawiki:gadget-ime.js, instead of module=ext.gadget.ime.

i did edit heavily the original tool written by User:Dapete, but the interface is practically unchanged. i'll try to post here a link for documentation, if i can find it. years ago i wrote a help page in hewiki for the original tool, but unfortunately, it's hebrew so won't be too much use for most commons users.

maybe you want to give it a spin first - just f12 and run the "load" command from js console on an image page, and click the "ImageMapEdit >" lintkette above the "add a note" button.

if you respond, please mention me, so i'll be noted - i do not frequent commons regularly.

Thank you so much!. I guess i'm the maintainer. unfortunately, the original author, Dapete, is not responding. The talk page of the .js script can also be used (in addition to my talkpage, or simply sending me a "mention"). If i go off the face of the earth (or wikipedia, whichever comes first), hopefully some other interface admin on hewiki will take over.

Good thing, though, the original version worked for more than 10 years with little or zero maintenance. The only reason for the "new version" was that the powers-that-be decided we should not load scripts from mflabs, so i dusted off the old script, an taught it to work w/o the wmflabs extra endpoints that the original script used. קיפודנחש (talk) 20:33, 28 November 2019 (UTC)

道歉是表示知错，是表示愿意改正的态度。原谅是表示相信你能改正。我们会“假定善意”相信一个道歉是“真心”的，给你改正的机会。但没有道歉我们凭什么相信你“知错”？

你说的没错，道歉后是可能问题再犯，但这不表明道歉是“假心”的啊。很多时候，一些道歉说的是很多很难防止的事，比如，在人群很多的路上走着走着，不小心一不注意踩到了其他人，这时候应该道歉，这更多是表示你知道不应该这么做，不是故意的。但这也不是说“假心”道歉不是没有，如果做错了事，而且是明显故意，那才是真的“假心”。曾经这里有人经常在编辑摘要里辱骂他人，我们跟他说，这么做不对，他道歉了。结果再犯。但你要知道，“辱骂”是一件自己完全能让自己不做的事啊，再次辱骂有明显的故意的成分。他的下场？封禁了几天冷静冷静。

你的这次问题是在很多人觉得你应该得到什么的时候，你硬是拒绝，又拒绝沟通，把你为什么拒绝的原因说给大家听，结果被认为无理取闹，变成了闹剧。我觉得，如果这种事情再发生，你又不想说你的理由，你可以试图找你相信的人，或者如果是语言问题，找你相信的会说中文的人，把你心里想什么，你的角度说出来，让他能从你的角度和大家的角度考虑，看看怎么和平解决问题。换位思考是解决问题的前提啊，如果不能沟通，互相不理解对方，无法换位思考，那不成为闹剧才怪。

Bug in sseclient library

Hi! I just wanted to let you know about this issue in the sseclient library. AFAICS all versions are affected. I have submitted a pull request for it. Of course the so-called short reads of versions after v0.0.22 also cause issues, see my other bug report and the associated pull request. • You can no longer read Wikimedia wikis if your browser use very old TLS. This is because it is a security problem for everyone. It can lead to downgrade attacks. Since 9 December you just see a warning. Soon the browser will not connect to the wikis at all. Most are users on Android systems older than 4.4. You can read the browser recommendations. [14]
• Special:LinkSearch has been moved from the "Redirecting special pages" section on Special:SpecialPages to the "Lists of pages" section. [15]

• Wikis can protect pages so that only some users can edit them. The standard protection levels are Allow only autoconfirmed users and Allow only administrators. If your wiki use more protection levels the technical name might be renamed for standardisation. This doesn't affect what users see. [16]
