NONE of these notices are correct: [1][2][3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8]
NONE of these images have ever been posted on Flickr. ALL were "screen-shots" of PDFs of the Technical Manuals cited. All have been done by me personally in the last week. Some are edited copies of others. I can supply other information but shouldn't have to.
I suggest that OTHER copies from the same source have been posted to Flickr. I have never used Flickr for anything (unless the image was on commons to start with).
Your program may recognize similar images but NONE of these that I have posted have EVER been on Flickr. Thank you. Sammy D III (talk) 12:42, 4 September 2018 (UTC)

- Even if I had any idea of what that link means it still would not really change that:
- All of those images were copied from Public Domain documents, retouched, and posted only on Commons BY ME PERSONALLY.
- None of those images have any copyright problems or have ever been posted on Flickr.
- All of those images have been incorrectly tagged by YOU.
- None have been repaired by YOU.
- I don't understand. YOU have incorrectly tagged those images. I believe that YOU should be responsible to repair damage that YOU cause. I reported it to YOU, the person/program that caused the damage to start with. I don't think I should be accused of something that I didn't do because of problems with YOUR program. I don't need anything other than "oops" and "fixed". Thank you. Sammy D III (talk) 18:12, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
- UW, on behalf of YOU, have tagged the image with {{Flickreview}}. Read the diff again and stop accusing people without knowing what's going on. WONTFIX on the bot's side; FIX-ing on UW's side. Thanks you. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 18:37, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
- No, no diversion. Whatever you post, none of those images has been on Flickr and your program says they were. Your program is WRONG.
- Nobody did anything "on behalf of YOU" (meaning me) because I followed instructions and had no need or interest in a Flicker review. And no matter who asked for the reviews, THEY ARE STILL WRONG!
- Those images are public domain and have never been on Flicker. Your program is WRONG in saying they were, and you won't take responsibility for your program's problems. Sammy D III (talk) 21:54, 4 September 2018 (UTC)

FWIW, I'm ignoring this thread until this baseless accusation stops. Not gonna waste time to explain what a program did to someone who can't read diffs. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 14:49, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
Is it intentional that the bot inserts the uploader's name into the review template instead of "FlickreviewR"? I just came across this edit and similar ones. Tyler ser Noche is not a reviewer and even if he was, his own uploads should be checked by somebody else. De728631 (talk) 16:06, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
- It's not intentional. It uses
{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}
, which used to mean the username of the current user. Shall I report a bug to MediaWiki about this, or shall I just go with the change and make the bot code, instead of MediaWiki, subst the username? --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 16:25, 5 September 2018 (UTC)- I think there might be something wrong with REVISIONUSER. I was just trying to add
{{subst:Frw}}
to this image, but in the preview the text read, "This image, originally posted to Flickr, was reviewed on 5 September 2018 by the administrator or reviewer Magog the Ogre". So it would be great if you could open a phab task. De728631 (talk) 16:31, 5 September 2018 (UTC) - Hardcoding the bot's username would also be a good idea since it keeps adding nonsense. Recent changes
- When you added or edited a template with the visual editor the input boxes were very big. This has been fixed. The input boxes will now be smaller until you click on them. Then they will change size to fit the text. [9]
Problems
- Some diffs showed lines in the wrong order. This was fixed last week. [10]
- Marking a cross-wiki notification as read didn't work every time. The other wiki was not updated. This has now been fixed. [11]
<maplink>
did not work for a few days. This was because of a bug. This has now been fixed. [12]{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}
is used by some templates. For a period edits saved with{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}
would save the previous user's name and not your username. This is now fixed. Edits made before the bug was fixed will still be wrong and need to be corrected. [13]- When you move a page the title still shows the old page name. The developers are working on fixing this. [14]
Changes later this week
- Because of a data centre test you will be able to read but not edit the wikis for up to an hour on 12 September and 10 October. This will start at 14:00 (UTC). You might lose edits if you try to save during this time. The time when you can't edit might be shorter than an hour. You can read more about this.
- Because of the data centre test there will be no new version of MediaWiki this week. Changes for this week will come next week instead.
Meetings
- You can join the next meeting with the Editing team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on 11 Septmber at 18:30 (UTC). See how to join.
- You can join the technical advice meeting on IRC. During the meeting, volunteer developers can ask for advice. The meeting will be on 12 September at 15:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- The developers work on making the wikis work better on mobile phones. There is a list of common problems when making content easier to read in the mobile view. You can add things to the page and ask others to help.

Strange behaviour of the bot
I can see this for the second time. The bot takes a file, strips redundant data and uploads it under a new name – note the dash just after the colon. --jdx Re: 18:57, 11 September 2018 (UTC)
- wtf?! o.O The bot doesn't even copy the wikitext. It must have been pywikibot. But it checks the page's existence before overwriting. How is this possible? I'm kinda busy this week. Will hopefully find something this weekend --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 19:44, 11 September 2018 (UTC)

- All I see in the logs is:
Working on: File:From Sehwan, start of the travel.jpg at 2018-09-08T11:24:55Z >>> [[File:From Sehwan, start of the travel.jpg]] <<< After 6.9MiB (7218688 bytes, via Ending): Identified type: image/jpeg (JPEG image data, Exif standard: [TIFF image data, little-endian, dirent ries=4, xresolution=62, yresolution=70, resolutionunit=2], baseline, precision 8, 1616x1080, frames 3) Upload successful. Working on: File:During travel.jpg at 2018-09-08T11:24:57Z

Need your help with gigapixel upload
Hello Zhuyifei1999! How are you? A museum with which friends and I are leading a GlamWiki initiative, Museu do Ipiranga, launched a couple of days ago a Google Arts & Culture project. In this context, GAC has uploaded a series of very large reproductions of important paintings, taken with the Art Camera. These are gigapixel files. I understand they can be uploaded to the Commons, but I have not figured out how this is done. I have seen you were able to do one of these uploads. Would you mind telling me how it works? I am for instance very interested in uploading this painting, one of the most important of Brazilian art. Thanks a lot! --Joalpe (talk) 17:14, 14 September 2018 (UTC)
- I'll look into it this weekend. The script has been in the process of rewriting for a long time and is almost always broken :( --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 17:16, 14 September 2018 (UTC)
- @Joalpe: The script is totally broken since I tried to rewrite it last November. The older version might somewhat work but meh. How urgent is this? If it's urgent I guess I'll do something with the older version. If it's not urgent could you wait for the rewrite? It could take a week or two. Though, since you asked about how it works, I wrote about it last October in an email, which I've copied to phab:P7554. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 04:24, 17 September 2018 (UTC)
- Hi. Thanks for your answer --and I am also marking Mike Peel, who is interested in understanding how you managed this upload. We can definitely wait a week or two for the upload. We are hoping to upload all 27 gigapixel files that were produced from the collection of this particular museum in Brazil. Thanks a lot! --Joalpe (talk) 23:18, 17 September 2018 (UTC)
- @Joalpe and Mike Peel: I mostly finished that part that scraps tiles. See [19] and [20]. That's the harder part. I'll make the script that combines tiles starting from tomorrow.
- BTW, is either of you on IRC by any chance? I could message you on how to set the script up and/or how each part works. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 21:24, 18 September 2018 (UTC)
- Zhuyifei1999, I'm not on IRC, but Mike Peel is. Thanks for working on this! --Joalpe (talk) 03:02, 20 September 2018 (UTC)
- @Joalpe and Mike Peel: I've updated the fetch code to save the tiles, and wrote [21] that merges the tiles into one gigantic PNG (and that should be lossless), but that might end up larger than 4 GiB and be non-uploadable. There's a maximum size for JPEGs (65535 x 65,535) so you can't really save that gigapixel in one piece of gigantic JPEG either. I think ImageMagick will suit pretty well for the purposes of converting / splitting / downscaling to make the gigapixel uploadable. Also @Mike Peel what is your IRC nick? I'm unable to find you. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 01:49, 21 September 2018 (UTC)
- I got all the tiles for xQEMjjFlwma5eQ (Independência ou Morte - Pedro Américo de Figueiredo e Mello) at 2035206740 bytes (about 2 GiB). The latest version of the script needs about 1.5 seconds per tile --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 01:38, 23 September 2018 (UTC)
- Sorry for the slow reply. I'm on irc as 'mpeel', but not very often. I'm happy to help if needed, but it looks like you have it under control? Let me know if you need any help. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 22:38, 23 September 2018 (UTC)
- @Joalpe and Mike Peel: I mean, I thought you and Joalpe are interested in the method of how this is done, and are willing to upload the images yourselves. I am very much willing to demonstrate it so that you may get all the 27 gigapixels uploaded (or more if you ever need in the future). I personally do not have the time capacity to do many gigapixel downloads, and then there's the issue of merging tiles costs a huge amount of disk space (xQEMjjFlwma5eQ specifically requires 129GiB of disk space for pixel cache when merged as a whole), which I often don't have the infrastructure to support. I would be very happy if you could get them uploaded, and I can fix any issue that might arise with my scripts. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 23:10, 23 September 2018 (UTC)

Bot missed the link?
Hi! I uploaded File:Thank you in many languages, b&w.png yesterday, taken from Flickr. When FlickreviewR 2 reviewed the page, it apparently did not recognise the link to the source page that I had placed in the "Source" field. Is that an error on my part, or in the bot? Thanks, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 09:52, 3 October 2018 (UTC)
- It doesn't recognize the links to the image file themselves (staticflickr.com), but the links to the image pages (flickr.com). It can't see the license information on the former link. Do you know how to convert it back? --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 13:20, 3 October 2018 (UTC)

Embedded Data Bot
Today Embedded Data Bot found embedded data in my upload. Turns out there really was (quite huge) EXIF thumbnail appended at the end of the file.
Can you tell me what tool is used internally by the bot for its operation, so next time I can check (and fix) my images before uploading them to commons?
Křžut (talk) 22:02, 6 October 2018 (UTC)
