Your bot has not made any Flickr reviews since yesterday evening. Can you restart it? --Stefan2 (talk) 20:36, 22 January 2016 (UTC)

It seems running again, somehow. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 03:41, 23 January 2016 (UTC)

I created File:Sarah Palin Dover NH 2 02.jpg, a new version of existing Commons File:Sarah Palin Dover NH 2.jpg which was originally sourced from Flickr. But before I could edit the new page to add the Flickr URL, the bot jumped in and flagged the new file for deletion. I'm sure the new image is kosher and the Flickr URL is on the page now. Is there anyway to get the bot or a real person to look again and "unflag" the new image? Thanks -- WikiPedant (talk) 07:06, 26 January 2016 (UTC)

Just revert it. It will re-review the file --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 10:35, 26 January 2016 (UTC)
Thanks. Everything is OK now. -- WikiPedant (talk) 03:47, 27 January 2016 (UTC)

More photos

Hi. Pleasure to talk with you. I noticed that you have added Australia's 2015 cricket world champions photo of flicker. So, this is just a request, if you can please add Sri Lankan players both current and recently retired cricketers photos to their articles. I once going to add them by flicker, but is was deleted by Wikimedia. Hope you will take this request. Cheers. Gihan Jayaweera (talk) 4 February 2016 (UTC)

What are you talking about? Pretty sure I didn't upload anything in this area, but one of my bots may be, as part of its reviewing task --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 13:14, 4 February 2016 (UTC)

Video2Commons

Another question please, what happens if the resulting file is over 1GB ? Does it get uploaded ? If so, it would be less trouble for everybody than making a request at phabricator... Thanks, — Racconish ☎ 15:52, 4 February 2016 (UTC)

Well, if the file is over 1 GB, there's no way to upload it without asking the sysadmins. The tool will just give you a link to create a phabricator ticket with everything prefilled (eg. phab:T125649) --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 16:00, 4 February 2016 (UTC)
Clear, thanks. — Racconish ☎ 16:08, 4 February 2016 (UTC)

Also: Can I use the application to upload a new version of a film ? Thanks, — Racconish ☎ 07:36, 5 February 2016 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but right now it's not coded yet --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 07:53, 5 February 2016 (UTC)
Nothing to be sorry about. I think it would be great to help improve gradually the quality of the films. — Racconish ☎ 07:56, 5 February 2016 (UTC)

FYI: failed upload of Bird of Paradise (1932).webm "The status of the task could not be retrieved. It is presumably failed due to a failed chunk uploading and T124922". Is it because of the size ? — Racconish ☎ 16:03, 5 February 2016 (UTC)

Hmm, apparently you got it: File:Bird of Paradise (1932).webm. The logs says:

Maintenance cats

Hi Zhuyifei, could you please modify your Bot in a way that the categories are added at the end of the wikitext and not at the beginning? I think this is standard position. --Arnd (talk) 06:13, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

Usually we do appending, but some syntax errors in wikitext (such as unclosed <gallery> tags) will break the category tags, and there errors are not easily detectable by bot. This prepending is to workaround such cases. Also, the two cats this tasks deal with may encounter more pages with such error than other cats. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 10:47, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
+1. BTW: What about notifying the uploaders? Especially if they are experienced users, they could do the fix themselves. --Leyo 11:28, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
The notifying code is complicated. A person wouldn't like to have a separate notification for each upload, and grouping messages by user would necessary. The missing-license script used to have such feature, but (I don't remember why) it was abandoned. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 11:49, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
What about providing the following search link to the users? incategory:Pages_using_Information_template_with_parsing_errors insource:/User name/ (“User name” replaced by the actual user name). --Leyo 13:38, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
Should be fine as one message user per run, except that some filedescs may not contain the uploader. @Jarekt: Is this fine for you? --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 13:45, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

I was just looking through the edits related to [Commons:Bots/Requests/YiFeiBot (25)]] task and they look good. I also run quarry:query/2556 and few files I found were changed today. I think prepending the problem category instead of appending it is justified, since that way we also catch all the files with unclosed <gallery> tags. I agree with Arnd that end would be a standard position, but we hope the category is temporary and position is a style preference that actually makes a difference. We had problems with other bots where daily appended license templates were not showing up due to syntax errors. As for notifying users, I would propose to start with bot separating Category:New uploads without an infobox template (like it does with Category:New uploads without a license) where we can tag some files with {{No source}} before moving them to Category:Media missing infobox template. We might want to add another standard message about need to have {{Information}} template or similar. Once we have manual process of notifying users we can start working on making it automatic. I think we need to have a different message for different cases, as to less confusing with out messages. Some cases are :

Zhuyifei1999, may be you can also remove files that no longer need to be in Category:New uploads without a license by running: quarry:query/7210. --Jarekt (talk) 15:07, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

@Jarekt: we have two cats right now, Category:Pages using Information template with parsing errors & Category:Media missing infobox template. To handle "new uploads" cases we either need a new cat (to handle both cases), or one cat for each. I'm inclined to do the former. For the removal, will do later. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 05:45, 12 February 2016 (UTC)
BTW: Also vandalism should be considered as a likely cause of parsing errors. The history might be checked for this (somehow). --Leyo 17:03, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
It is very hard to detect vandalism with robot. --Steinsplitter (talk) 17:15, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
Previous edit by an anonymous or a newly registered user and Information template correctly transcluded before would probably tackle quite some vandalism. --Leyo 23:59, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
That would require parsing old revisions, which is... quite complicated. (I know mwparserfrommhell may be able to do this, but idk how it handle edge cases like vandalized pages) --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 05:45, 12 February 2016 (UTC)

Hi. Just a detail about the French words which should be used in this template for French language readers. The real French translation for the English word “license” is « licence », with a second “c” instead of the “s” used in English.

See: wikt:en:licence#French and wikt:fr:licence#Français. « wikt:fr:license » is not used in French.

Bot Down?

It has been a while since I have seen anything in Category:Media without a license: needs history check and other categories. --Jarekt (talk) 13:10, 23 February 2016 (UTC)

Will check tomorrow. Busy developing a tool and doing real life work recently, sorry. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 13:29, 23 February 2016 (UTC)
Thanks --Jarekt (talk) 14:21, 23 February 2016 (UTC)
I have no idea what happened, but it's running now. Also added the infobox task to daily crontab which I apparently forgot about --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 10:27, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
Hmm, I just saw in the logs there are _mysql_exceptions.OperationalError: (2013, 'Lost connection to MySQL server during query'), maybe SQL optimization needed? --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 11:33, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
Probably related to phab:T127228 & phab:T127266 --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 11:38, 24 February 2016 (UTC)

Hi Zhuyifei1999, what are the parsing error in these files? --Arnd (talk) 11:59, 29 February 2016 (UTC)

Database lag caused false positive probably. For the second one, it's not using any of the standard information templates, so assumed to have parsing errors. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 12:18, 29 February 2016 (UTC)
ok. According to the second one: user aka did not agree with the conversion of his home-brewed information template into one that is based on the information-template. So maybe you should exclude that user (template). --Arnd (talk) 13:10, 29 February 2016 (UTC)
In that case a {{Infobox template tag}} to the user template (this is quite against the convention). I don't think maintaining a growing opt-opt list is okay at all. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 14:06, 29 February 2016 (UTC)

Send FlickreviewR 2 Through Two Categories

Is there any way you could send your bot FlickreviewR 2 through Category:Images from United States Navy to check and Category:Images from United States Army to check? Most of the images are from flickr and have been previously reviewed to have CC-BY-2.0, but now have a PD-USNavy or PD-USArmy license attached to them on Flickr. Elisfkc (talk) 03:18, 2 March 2016 (UTC)

Scratch Category:Images from United States Army to check, that's still CC-BY-2.0. Elisfkc (talk) 03:27, 2 March 2016 (UTC)
Why? I don't see the point to autoreview PD images at all, as a bot cannot determine if the photo is taken by US Navy sailor / employee or not. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 03:42, 2 March 2016 (UTC)
Also, IMO dual licensing under PD-USNavy and CC-BY-2.0 is more free than only PD-USNavy, as the latter does not apply outside US (i.e. ARR outside US). --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 03:47, 2 March 2016 (UTC)
I had no idea that PD-Navy didn't apply outside of the US. The issue was that, originally, the photos were licensed under CC-BY-2.0 on Flickr. They have been changed to "United States government work" on there, so the bot should be able to see that (and has been seeing it as I've been manually sending images through it again). Elisfkc (talk) 18:11, 2 March 2016 (UTC)
Well, it makes little difference IMO. If a photo is taken by someone in the Navy, it's automatically PD in US regardless of what license is shown on Flickr --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 00:14, 3 March 2016 (UTC)
